The world has been distracted by so many situations being thrown out there and the media gets to pick and choose what the American audience gets to see and hear…….another beheading, more BS from the war hawks, more explanation of IS and of course there is Ukraine and the daily confusion they call news…….
But my concern is the visit that Obama made to Estonia…..this tiny little NATO country has been trying to convince the US to build a permanent base in the country…..and now it looks like thanx to Russia and its aggression it may be in the offing……
In a press conference in Tallin the capital of Estonia the prez and his counter-part kept mentioning the NATO charter and especially article 5and of course NO one bothered to explain just what article 5 is and what does it do……….let me help…….
Article 5 is known as the “one-for-all and all-for-one” article, the keystone of NATO as an organization. It states that an “armed attack” against one member is an attack against all and sets in motion the possibility of collective self-defense.
However, it only commits members to “assist the party or parties so attacked” and to take “such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force….” It does not automatically result in military action.
Nice huh? But there is another news story that may pertain to this article in the near future……..well since the prez used the term liberally at the presser in Tallin…..could there be more to the this story than the press is willing to share?
Maybe this news piece will help your thinking about this…………
Tough talk as NATO-Russia relations continue to deteriorate: NATO leaders, who meet in the UK later this week, are planning a “rapid reaction” force that can deploy to Russia’s worried Eastern European neighbors within 48 hours, reports the New York Times. The “spearhead” force would have a permanent command center to allow it to respond swiftly to threats, the Globe and Mail notes. “This spearhead … could include several thousand troops, ready to respond where needed with air, sea, and special-forces support,” NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told reporters.
The NATO summit in Newport, Wales, is especially important because “Russia thought it can change the borders of a sovereign European country by force, and this is happening not very far from NATO’s borders,” says Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas, calling for fresh plans to ensure all members of the alliance are “equally and strongly protected.” Russian defense chiefs, meanwhile, say NATO’s actions are “evidence of the desire of US and NATO leaders to continue their policy of aggravating tensions with Russia” and that Moscow plans to craft a new military doctrine in response to NATO plans and the Ukraine crisis, the BBC reports. In Ukraine, President Petro Poroshenko accused Russia of “direct and undisguised aggression” yesterday as government forces continued to suffer reverses, including a retreat from the Luhansk airport, where the Ukrainian military says a Russian tank battalion supported pro-Russia rebels, Reuters reports
Okay sports fans…..is all this just business as usual or is there something bigger in the works? I understand the confusing by the West….I mean Ukraine sez there is a ceasefire deal…..Russia sez nope that they are no part of this conflict……which is accurate and which is just posturing?
But wait is this part of the ‘rapid reaction’ force?
Approximately 200 U.S. soldiers are headed to Ukraine for peacekeeping exercises in mid-September, the Pentagon announced Wednesday.
The soldiers will be the first U.S. ground troops in Ukraine since the government in Kiev began fighting pro-Russian separatists
The exercise, called Rapid Trident, will run Sept. 15–26 at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center located in Yavoriv, Ukraine, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren said
God I love this stuff…..if you are not paying attention then you have NO idea what is going on or how it will effect the US…….and that is where they have us……..ignorance allows them to do so much more than they tell us.
One final question: Is the West willing to go to war to save Ukraine?
I’m glad I asked that question………….
Krynica (Poland) (AFP) – European military assistance to Ukraine could lead to a nuclear conflict between Russia and NATO, according to Poland’s iconic cold warrior and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Walesa.
“It could lead to a nuclear war,” the anti-Communist legend told reporters when asked whether the EU should send weapons to Ukraine to help it fights off separatist rebels and Russian aggression.
There is so much happening…..and the news is not reflecting the need for caution……..the media is feeding the flames of this fire.
The US is at a true crossroad and which way will we lean? MI-C has the directions we will take and the Prez and his buds in Europe will go where told.
